If I could leave a zero, it would be too high. This hotel felt like a prison cell. No drawers, no bedsides, no fridge. The bed felt like concrete. We checked in at 5pm and the ear plugs provided should have been a give away. The noise was so bad, we had to leave at midnight. We checked I for a night in Perth, and wasted every dollar on this hotel. Do NOT recommend at all.

Great little find, just around the corner from CBD. Needed a quick overnight stay in Perth so I could catch up up with a mate - suffice to say Alex Hotel met my needs and was in a great spot. China Town is right on your doorstep with plenty of eateries and places to drink too. Northbridge of a nighttime has some ‘interesting’ sights to see, but I felt totally comfortable walking it alone. Alex hotel rooms weren’t massive - but I didn’t need them to be, the shower was fantastic and the bed comfy. WiFi worked spot on and bottled water readily available from level 1. Check in was simple and quick, I left early next day flying back to Bali so key dropped without issue as no staff to be seen. Would happily stay here again, it’s close to train station (2 minute walk), and 15 minute brisk walk from Elizabeth Quay bus terminal too. Thanks to the team.

Great hotel concept, stylish, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. Like the complimentary breakfast and the communal spaces. Second stay in this hotel in 18 months. There is a big problem, though, with noise if you stay over the weekend - the 3 nights we were here were spoilt because of noise from the Universal nightclub over the road. The noise goes on until 1.00 in the morning. And it is LOUD!! The hotel very kindly moved us to another room which was slightly better but the noise was still loud. Recommend you book a lane room - smaller rooms but further from the noise. Our stay in 2022 was not at the weekend and we stayed in the smaller rooms. This stay in March 2024 was over the weekend and as a result the level of noise spoilt our stay in Perth. Tribal chant going on outside as I write this. This part of Perth is nightclub district so stay elsewhere if you need a decent sleep.

Loved not listening to a bar fridge all night. Ingenious double glazed windows can let in fresh air or cut the street noise. The self-serve mezzanine was like a private club and breakfast amongst the plane tree leaves above street level was delightful. Combined with dinner at the Shadow bar, this was a top night.

Honestly this is my favourite Perth hotel. Just had our second stay and I just feel so happy and at home here. The beds are comfortable, the shower is lovely, breakfast is yummy and location is great. Our first stay I was taken aback by no fridge in the room but the fridge on the mezzanine is sufficient for any storage needs we had (ie leftover UberEats 😂) and there’s an abundance of filtered water conveniently bottled in glass to take to the room. The coffee machine for guests 24/7 is great too! I feel like the hotel has made decisions with sustainability in mind that at first seem weird but after experiencing them I appreciate them. A review I saw mentioned this is a glorified hostel. Perhaps that’s why I like it! The communal areas feel like you could make new friends there while doing some work or enjoying a drink, but the rooms and bathrooms feel closer to a luxury hotel. Location is fantastic, especially for someone like me that doesn’t drive in the city, being so close to the train and bus stations. The trees around the hotel create a relaxed vibe right on the edge of busy Northbridge. I’ve honestly never heard much noise during the night but you are in the nightlife heart of Perth so it’s to be expected. Breakfast - seems minimalistic at first but everything is QUALITY. A barista is there during breakfast to make awesome coffee. I dream of the spinach scrolls and fig fruit bread after leaving! Thankyou Alex Hotel, you have a happy customer here!
